On Tuesday evening, students, families and staff flooded the Hall for our inaugural Student Futures Expo.

This was a fantastic opportunity for Korowa’s families to meet with representatives from local and interstate universities, gap year and alternative pathway providers.

“It was wonderful to speak to exhibitors that I previously did not know much about, such as The Hotel School and the Australian Defence Force!” (Clairen, Year 12)

“I enjoyed hearing from the Victorian Police most! Even though I was only looking to apply to University of Melbourne and ANU, the exhibitor who spoke to us was super down-to-earth and friendly, the course sounds really rewarding!” (Madeline, Year 12)

We had over 30 exhibitors on display, ranging from Universities and TAFEs to The Hotel School, Carlton College of Sport, Rustic Pathways, Camp America and many more!

It was really eye opening to view so many different potential career paths and universities in one setting, it really gave you an idea of just how many options there are, and it was so convenient to be able to look at them in one place
– Snigdha, Year 12

Year 12 student Eloise said “I found it interesting to directly talk to university representatives to clarify my understanding of the course that I’m interested in. Even though it may not be something that I get involved in, I found it fascinating to discover some of the amazing overseas opportunities out there after school’s over. The expo did not change any of my future plans (to become an Actuary), but it did help me gain further insight into the universities I am contemplating studying at next year”.

“The purpose of this event was to provide our students with an opportunity to explore a range of possible post school options. I encourage all students to have an open mind and think broadly about what opportunities are out there for them beyond school. I was overwhelmed by the voluntary attendance of students and parents and the feedback from families has been extremely positive. Holding an event like this at School made it really easy for families to attend”, said Louise Blennerhassett, Student Futures Specialist and organiser of the event.

This event will become an annual event on Korowa’s calendar, providing our students with the tools and information they need to make informed decisions regarding their future beyond the School gates.
